Caught on camera!

Over the past few weeks, we have been using our camera trap to record the wildlife on our school field- here's a selection of what we captured!

Etal Class visit to Nissan

We went to the Nissan Factory, Sunderland on 14th December. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Andrea and Robin – our activity leaders. First, we were led to a classroom where we were then told about Nissan and its history and career opportunities. We then had some tasty cookies and juice, before we connected tablets to robots and programmed them to drive around the room. After lunch, we went down to the workshop and saw real robots! One had a pen in his hand and drew a Santa, a snowman and Christmas tree (all drawn very well) along with ‘Hi Hipsburn’! The other robots all danced- it was awesome! We went back upstairs and coded the robots to follow obstacle courses. Once we had completed those, we drove them around and even raced them.

We all had an amazing day!

Beach Day - Friday 29th September
Etal Castle class have had a super first beach day of the term and we were lucky to enjoy some lovely autumnal sunshine! Inspired by our class book Holes, we had a go at digging holes in the sand and found that to dig a '5-foot-deep and 5-foot-wide hole' like they have to in the book would be rather grueling! There were then some wonderful drama performances based on scenes from the book. After lunch, we hiked up Bracken Hill and thought about what Alnmouth would have been like during the Victorian Era and imagined that we were here holidaying and wrote postcards home. The day was rounded off with some very creative beach art.
