Spring 2024

3D Paper Art
This half term Bamburgh class in art and design have been learning different techniques to shape paper to make 3D structures.
We have investigated how to roll paper and design simple sculptures using paper cylinders.

They evaluated artworks inspired by the 'Tree of Life'. Then planned and created their own tree of life using their paper shaping skills.

Religious Education

We have been learning about the Easter story and what it means to Christians.

We thought about Palm Sunday and how for many Christians this is a time of celebration as they remember when Jesus entered Jerusalem. We found out about how churches have special services and often they are decorated by palm leaves. Bamburgh class made our own palm trees and crosses.

We  found out about the special days during holy week and made our own Easter gardens outside.

We decorated eggs with drawings to show the different parts of the Easter story.

Then we had great fun searching for eggs outside on an Easter egg hunt.

World Book Day 7th March

Bamburgh Class had a very busy World Book Day!

Our potato characters were absolutely amazing; there were so many fabulous creative ideas. Well done everyone! Our class World Book day story was Hello Spring by Jo Lindley.

After a whole year of waiting, it’s finally spring’s turn to wear the Weather Crown and create her own special season. Her friends can all remember how beautiful spring was last time.

But this time, as Winter places the crown on her head, Spring starts to feel anxious. Can her friends help by showing her that not everything has to be perfect?

Using the book as inspiration we made crowns to represent our favourite season. We explored different emotions and why the character Spring felt anxious in the story and how her friends helped her. We also painted some super spring meadow pictures.

Design & Technology (Spring 1 Term) - Puppet Making
Last term Bamburgh class had a very busy term. In design & technology the children  experimented joining fabric together using pins, staples and glue. They designed a puppet on a template and then created their own puppets by joining together two pieces of fabric. Then they decorated their puppet to match their design.
Music - following a beat & playing and performing
In music we were practising to play and perform by an instrumental part by ear on a Glockenspiel.
Science
In Science we continued our topic of everyday materials and had great fun having a go at building a structure strong enough to withstand wind (based on the story of the 3 Little Pigs).
